FITNESS COMMUNITIES

Find a community that motivates you!

Fitness communities can help you get stronger, faster and fitter, but they can help your sense of belonging even more. Sometimes there will have days where the last thing you want to do is work out. During this time of uncertainty, you may feel this way more often than not. As we all know it’s easy to talk yourself out of exercise. Therefore a support network is extremely valuable for you when you’re trying to make positive changes to your health and fitness.

Fitness communities are not physical gyms or facilities where you have to pay a fee to be a part of. These are groups of people that get together for a common purpose of doing a common workout/sport together. These can be either from a social group (online/offline), a group that trains regularly with a particular trainer/instructor, a group that does a common sport (running, cycling, etc.) together or a group that workouts together at a common location.

Here are a couple of key reasons why you should find and join a fitness community.

  1. Motivation
You’ll be encouraged to push harder when you would have given up if you’re working out on your own.It can be extremely difficult to find the willpower to start a new workout routine. You can download all the fitness apps, sign up for 30-day challenges, pay for a gym membership fee, and still have zero motivation to exercise. But there’s something about the way your mindset shifts as soon as you join a community of like-minded people who share a common goal: to get and stay n the best shape of your lives.Even when surrounded by people you’ve never met, there’s an atmosphere of camaraderie, teamwork, and healthy competition that will motivate you and everyone else to work harder. You can identify others in the community who are further along in their journeys and use them as benchmarks to motivate you in your workouts. Everyone has to start somewhere, so don’t forget to give yourself and your body time to adjust to your new routine.
  2. Accountability
Once you’re part of a community, you’ll feel the need to present for every session. Because in a community, you not only get into a rhythm of reappearing, you eventually start showing up as much for your fellow group mates as you do for yourself.
  3. Inspiration
Watching someone accomplish something you thought was impossible is very inspiring. This is especially true when the person is just like you. A fitness community is a great place to showcase others’ abilities and progress. All of this helps to inspire others to do the same or even identify new boundaries.
